Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh talks Raiders’ RB Zamir White

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Georgia running back Kenny McIntosh hits the podium to speak during the annual NFL Combine.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning back-to-back National Championship winners. Running back Kenny McIntosh played a key role in the school’s most recent championship run, finishing his 2022 campaign with 1,334 scrimmage yards and 12 total touchdowns. Before him, though, was current Las Vegas Raiders’ running back Zamir White.

In 2021, White led all Bulldogs with 856 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, adding another 75 yards through the air. At the end of the season, Georgia hoisted the National Championship Trophy, and White was a key reason why.

On Saturday, during Day 4 of the NFL Combine, I asked Kenny McIntosh what kind of leader Zamir White is, and what he’s learned from him.

“Definitely a leader,” McIntosh told me. “Zamir’s a great guy, comes from North Carolina. He’s a hard worker; He’s definitely going to go out there and work each and every day hard, give his 110%,” he added.

White had only totaled 399 receiving yards during his three years at Georgia – 106 less than McIntosh had during 2022 alone – but the Georgia back insists his former schoolmate has no problems in that department.

“He’s able to catch the ball too as well,” McIntosh said when speaking about Zamir.

When it comes to things McIntosh took from White [and James Cook], it’s how hard the two worked on and off the field. The type of work ethic Zamir has is contagious, and McIntosh learned that firsthand.

It’s not every day you come across a back as well-balanced as Kenny McIntosh. The 23-year-old stands 6’1″ and weighs in at 210. Even with this size, McIntosh has good speed and smooth cuts.

Outside of running with the football, we’re dealing with a back who logged 747 receiving yards and four touchdowns through the air over his last two seasons.

With such a diverse skill set, it’s hard to conclude which aspect of his game is the best. So, instead of guessing, I asked him what he thought it was.

“Definitely catching the ball,” McIntosh told me. He finished his answer by reminding everyone he’s “definitely not scared” of creating contact.
