Jon Rahm ADMITS being left ’emotional’ after missing WM Phoenix Open following LIV Golf switch

Speaking at the LIV Golf press conference ahead of the LIV Golf Vegas event, Rahm claimed that driving by Phoenix and knowing he was not part of the event left him emotional.

Driving by Phoenix as often as I had to and knowing that I wasn't going to play there, it's definitely emotional. That's one of the things that I'm going to miss. Jon Rahm on missing PGA Tour events as per Golf Digest.

Was Rahm feeling homesick? The answer to that question lies with him. The reigning Masters champion though had a great time in his debut event at LIV Golf. He would finish 10-under in his first appearance and took the third spot just behind Sergio Garcia and winner Joaquin Neimann.

Had he not left the tour, he would have got the chance to defend his titles won at The Sentry, The American Express Championship and the upcoming Genesis Invitational. This were the victories he achieved enroute to winning the Masters at the Augusta National last year.

Jon Rahm hoping to come back and play some PGA Tour events

While Jon Rahm might be a LIV Golf member, his love for the PGA Tour events has not ended. The 29-year-old expressed his wish to return and play at some PGA Tour events.

Speaking at the conference, Rahm said:

I'm hoping in the near future I can be back playing some of those events. I would certainly love to go back and play some of them. Jon Rahm on returning to PGA Tour events in LIV Golf press conference.

Whether Rahm’s wish will be fulfilled or not remains to be seen. A major reason for this is because he was suspended from the PGA Tour following his move to LIV Golf. His European Ryder Cup teammate Rory McIlroy has expressed this point and claimed that LIV Golfers should be allowed to return to the Tour without any punishment.

However, the talks of the golf merger are still ongoing. A final agreement between the PGA Tour and PIF, could see LIV Golfers get the nod to compete on PGA Tour events again in the upcoming future.
