Spring Fever!!

What's up yardbarker? I know it's been a minute but yes I'm back. I hope everybody's spring is going good. Mine is great.....just soaking up as much sun and clear skies as I can in the south. If you've never been, I tell u, you don't know what you're missing!! Other than this past weekend the weather couldn't be better. It was really good relaxing in the winter months but now since the sun's back out it's time to get back to work. That's usually what my days consist of now with still a little time time have fun. But like my mom says, NEVER TOO MUCH. So ya'll might have to forgive me cause I'm gonna have to live vicariously a bit through some of you guys this summer. We all need to catch up. So tell me what's on your mind.......until then.......peace!!

Hi, Glad to hear you're enjoying your time off - I live in the northeast and winter is too long, got a hint of spring yesterday sunny & 67 - can't wait for the 80's. I wanted to express my sympathy for the loss of Marquis Cooper, (and his friends) that is such a sad situation. My prayers go out to his family, teammates and friends. Sorry if I brought you down, didn't mean to. Enjoy the warmer weather and listen to your mother, too much negative news in sports (and in the world in general). Keep smiling!!!

Aaah...a fresh, new post. Let me roll around in it a bit. LOL But really, how you gonna come on here braggin about the sunny, warm weather when some of us are feelin all yellow and jaundiced from the lack of sun? :( Texas should put you on the tourism council cause you got me wanting to book a trip just to get some color back!

Cant wait 2 see you start at corner or maybe move to free safety this season. Corners make the best safties caus you already know how 2 cover a reciever & wont bite on anything. Il be in the stands in my routt jersey & cant wait 2 see u crack Brandon Marshall this season, its gona be great =p

  So have you ever thought about the possibility of moving to free safety? Because ive heard Tyvon Branch is penciled in at strong safety for the moment, and he can really succeed there. And i know you can hit, so that would work for you. Would they even let you move positions, even if you wanted to?

Just read on the website that the season opener is a MNF home game against the Chargers. Might have to drag myself off the couch for that one. ;) In other exciting news, if you can get your family to bring a turkey to Dallas you might be able to spend Thanksgiving with them. Raiders are playing on Thanksgiving for the first time since 1970. Remember 1970? Yeah, me neither. lol

It's my 38th birthday and I will comment to Stan if I want to!!!! In Nov 1970, I was in my mom's belly ready to pop out and be a Super Bowl winning Steelers fan on March 24,1971 In the Burgh Baby! Hey Stan, you get to go to the Burgh and play the defending Super Bowl Steelers this season! You better hope the schedule makers don't make it Nov or Dec. No fun in the sun in the Burrrrrgh during those months. You could get lucky and get a mild day but probably cloudy anyways. Too much fun in the sun here in West-Central Florida. We are in a severe drought and big wildfire danger. It is now a dessert in my backyard!
What is your workout routine between now and your 1st May minicamp? I'll be pullin for you 2 show the coaches that you need to be out on the field doing your thing and jack up some other players except when you play the defending Super Bowl champion Steelers. That would be the 6 time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers!!!! The 6 pack rules and it's time for 7th heaven!!!!

    Thanks Stan! Took advantage of my free day at Disney promotion. Had a great time with my parents in town for a while now. Disney gave me a special birthday Disney pin! I felt like a celebrity for a day with so many people saying Happy B-Day! I was ready to start signing autographs and start taking pictures with all my adoring fans! Then I remembered I have severe writer's cramp and can hardly sign my name and not legible. Like so many athlete's autograph these days not legible. I need your autograph to see how legible it is! Since you're from Texas I would say your autograph is big and fairly legible. Steeler Nation and March 24 birthdays took over Disney everywhere. My parents and I kept runnin into Steeler fans. it was awesome. Then we saw Spring Training Baseball game at Disney with my Pittsburgh Pirates vs. ATL Braves. My Buccos actually won the game 5-2. Ike Taylor, Santonio Holmes, and Donald Duck threw out the 1st pitch. Then, Donald Duck tackled Santonio Holmes better than the Clevland Browns!!!! LOL

    Yeah, it was some pretty good investigative work if I do say so myself. Hate to reveal my super-secret methodology but...First, I went to this little-know search engine called Google (crazy name, huh?) and I did what we refer to in the biz as an "image search" and voila! all kinds of Stanford. Stanford before, during and after a game. Stanford at training camp, stock photos, Stanford & Dewey, Stanford & Diana, referees, other players that aren't Stanford (?) etc. etc. You get the point. LOL

I can always remember the tinest details. Anyways...quick rundown.....2002 joined the Marine Corps, 2003 got married, was stationed in D.C. for four years. Got out of the marines in 2006 move back to Texas 2008. Now I work for Defense Media Activity in San Antonio. How bout you?.... this is your 4th, 5th year in the NFL? Hows it feel playing in the "Big Show"? Is that game on Thanksgiving the first time you'll have played Dallas, in Dallas? Should definately be a good game, I just hope my Boys are in the "hunt" come Thanksgiving. Its been a tough two years to be a Cowboys fan. Think you could ever wear the big Star on your helmet?

It is really great to see you and your childhood friend reunite on here. It brought back memories of my childhood friends in West View in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. We coukld only play sports outdoors 6 month of a year if we were lucky with all the brutal wintertime weather. I used to deliver newspapers and all you could see was my eyes because it was so darn cold and people would never clean their steps off from the ice and snow. Dark and dreary all the time and trying to collect paper money from the neighbors in the winter was difficult. Nobody wanted to answer their doors. I could not wait for summer to come. The best thing about the early part of the winter was watching the Steelers! Of course many hills and a nearby golf course had huge hills for great sled and inner tube riding.

Hey Stan, speaking of cold and snow, what do you think about the schedule makers giving you games in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Denver in December? Pretty mean of the schedule makers! Better have that cold weather uniform gear ready. You better hope it is unseasonably warm days on these 3 Sundays in December. Also, are you getting the anxious football itch to get things started again? it will be here before you know it.

  Yea...they actually do....cause you're playing football.....it's just not mandatory....that's all....gives you a chance to be sharp entering training camp which is always a plus!!!

Speaking of playing defense, I just read an article about Fabian's surgically repaired shoulder. I probably should apologize...you see, I ran into Fabe and he insisted that HE was your best friend and well, there was a minor scuffle. I might've yanked his arm behind his back and made him scream 'uncle'. Can't be positive but I think a popping sound came from his shoulder joint. My lawyers wont let me say much more. Anyhoo, glad to hear he's healed.

p.s. in my defense, he totally started it...;)
